Funding approved for two new southern fire stations

Funding has been approved for two new fire stations in the south of the Island.

Tynwald has agreed for £1.45 million to be spent on a new fire and ambulance station at Ronaldsway Industrial Park and to convert the ambulance station in Port Erin. 
 
The current Port Erin station was built in 1957 and Castletown's building has seen more than 50 years of service - neither are considered fit for purpose and are unable to meet modern demands. 
 
Work will start next month with completion expected in summer of 2017 - Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson says the new sites will be innovative:
