    GCSE exams to be overhauled

It was revealed yesterday that the exam is going to be replaced in core subjects by a qualification called the English Baccalaureate Certificate.

On the Island King Williams College has been operating this system for some time now.

These changes are planned to come into effect for pupils who begin their GCSE programme in 2015 and take their exams in 2017.

The DEC has said it will be closely monitoring the situation before making any decisions about how to respond to the changes.

Once the options are clear, the Department will work with the secondary schools to reach decisions about what should happen from 2015 onwards.
