Douglas Council has announced that Geoff Karran MBE will be the next recipient of the Honorary Freedom of the Borough of Douglas.
It’s been decided by the council that Mr Karran should receive the honour in recognition of his tireless dedication to charity and for his support of Manx sport.
Manx born Geoff had a long and distinguished career in law, being the youngest advocate ever to be admitted to the Manx Bar, before his retirement in 2007.
In 2008 he received an MBE for services to sport and the disabled and also served as chairman of last year’s Commonwealth Youth Games organising committee.
A ceremony to mark the occasion will be held at Douglas Town Hall on Friday, September 14th.
