The rollout of technology designed to help those with Type 1 Diabetes has been postponed due to the Coronavirus.
The government had intended to make Freestyle Libre and Dexcom sensors available to eligible patients from the start of this month but officials have halted the initiative to direct more healthcare resources to dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak.
Health and Social Care Minister, David Ashford MHK, says they remain committed to implementing the devices and the situation will be looked at again at a better time.
The sensors offer an accurate, safe and convenient way for diabetes patients to check their glucose levels and would reduce the number of finger prick tests needed.
