Government counting cost of flooding

The recent flooding and bad weather has cost government around £300,000.

That’s the initial estimate from a range of services including the Departments of Infrastructure, Home Affairs, Water and Sewerage Authority and MEA.

Severe gales and a tidal storm surge meant parts of the Island – including Ramsey and Castletown – were particularly badly affected over the last week.

The figure doesn't include the cost to local authorities, householders or the business community.
