Guernsey man in court accused of injuring bikers

An accident investigator will be appointed before the case against a Guernsey man accused of seriously injuring two bikers can progress.

48-year-old Mark Febrache appeared at Douglas Courthouse yesterday where he declined to enter pleas.

He's charged with two counts of causing serious bodily harm by driving without due care or consideration on June 7th.

The charges relate to a crash at the junction of the Glen Whyllin campsite - he was on his bike crossing the carriageway to turn into the site when there was a collision with another motorbike.

The rider suffered a broken arm and collarbone and required skin grafts - the female pillion passenger broke her neck, ribs and suffered a bleed on the brain.

The court was told the incident allegedly stemmed from a "momentary lapse of concentration" as Febrache was turning - he was also injured sustaining a broken arm and leg.

The case has been adjourned for eight weeks - he will next appear in court on September 3rd.
