Heysham sailings cancelled

Frustration at the Steam Packet cancellations will continue today after the company announced this evening’s crossing to Heysham and the return has been scrapped.

The forecast of strong wind has been blamed this time for the cancellation of both the 7.45pm and 2.15am sailings.

However, the damages and repairs needed to the Ben-my-Chree cannot take place until April when it’s dry-docked.

Public anger at the Steam Packet has grown over recent days at the apparent lack of a ‘plan B’ regarding its damaged vessel.

It also means further headaches for supermarkets and suppliers who have suffered greatly with a lack of fresh produce.
