Jail for man who called 999 to complain of 'toothache'

47-year-old Jonathan Fletcher plagued the Emergency Services Joint Control Room with a series of calls between December last year and March. 

 

During that period he dialled 999, and the non-emergency telephone line, to report a number of issues including that a dog was barking in his neighbourhood. 

 

On March 15th he sent seven emails to the police in less than an hour all of which had "little meaning" - he then proceeded to make several 999 calls asking for an ambulance because he had toothache.

 

During that evening on two occasions when asked which service he required he replied "assassination". 

 

At Douglas Courthouse today Fletcher pleaded guilty to three counts of making annoying or nuisance telephone calls - he'd previously admitted another harassment offence. 

 

Social enquiry and psychiatric reports have been requested before he's sentenced on May 24th - there was no application for bail and he was remanded in prison.
