The Department of Education, Sport and Culture says kids will benefit from an extra 30 minutes a year in the pool.
Instead of 26 shorter swimming sessions, children will now do 18 longer ones.
The Department says it's made the change to make sure kids are skilled swimmers before leaving primary school.
22 Primary Schools will adopt the new scheme in September 2025 with the remaining schools implementing it in February 2026.
