Leading Island Goalscorer Calum Morrissey Has UK Trials

One of the Island’s leading goal scorers Calum Morrissey has turned down an offer to turn semi-professional.

Morrissey plays for St George’s and the Island and is well known for his ability to score many goals and cause trouble with the oppositions defense.

He was scouted by AFC Wimbledon who play in the Blue Square Premier League during their pre-season visit to the Island last month.

Following a weeks trial with the club he notched up two goals which greatly impressed the manager, despite apprehensions about his fitness.

Eventually the deal offered to the local lad did not prove enticing enough to take him away from family and friends.
