The creator of the Sandygate Viking Project wants to help children 'explore skills they might not know they have' at the site.
Chris Hall spoke to 3FM about his aspirations for the project, explaining that he wants to give children the chance to tap into their creative side and discover new things:
After being inspired by Norse attractions in Scandinavia, Chris sold his family home two years ago to buy the land required for the project.
The finished product will include an arts and crafts area where people can learn about how the Vikings lived, an area to make wooden weapons, and a temple where you can learn about the Norse gods.
Chris is hoping his plans will be approved in January, and wants to use natural materials to build the site that will eventually be run by volunteers:
Once the 'immersive Viking era centre' is built, anyone interested in lending their skills can join the Friends of Sandygate Viking Facebook page.
