The Manannan took nearly eight hours to travel from the Isle of Man to Liverpool yesterday with all passengers onboard.
The Steam Packet confirmed to 3FM that technical issues were the reason behind this with the vessell developing a fault just 60 minutes into the journey.
The Port Authorities in Liverpool would not allow the Manannan to reach Mersey without assistance from a tug boat, however the this was also delayed meaning the boat did not arrive in Liverpool until 10.30pm.
As a result the return journey from Liverpool to Douglas was also majorly delayed, leaving Liverpool at 11.45pm and not arriving on the Island until 5am earlier this morning.
The next scheduled sailing is Thursday.
