A man’s been banned from the roads for a year after police caught him drink-driving.
Neal Antony Clague of Cushag Road in Douglas admitted the offence when he appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The court heard police spotted him driving at speed along South Quay in Douglas at around 8.30pm on September 20 and pulled the 49 year old over on Kewaigue Hill.
Clague, who was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol, told officers he’d had a couple of beers – and later turned out to be over the limit.
Mrs Hughes fined him £800, ordered him to pay £125 costs and banned him from driving for 12 months, after which he’ll have to sit the extended driving test to get his licence back.
