Shouting homophobic abuse before attacking a man and his partner a month after he was  released from prison has landed a man back behind bars.

Lewis Jack Moulder Kelly of Empire Terrace in Douglas appeared before Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks at Douglas Courthouse.

The 22 year old admitted a single count of causing actual bodily harm on Broadway in Douglas on February 17.

Prosecutor Roger Kane told the hearing Kelly had shouted bigoted abuse at two men before crossing the road to attack them at around 10pm.

One of the men suffered a cut eye in the attack, which was unprovoked and carried out while Kelly was so drunk he later told police he couldn’t remember doing it.

The court heard he’d been released from prison weeks earlier following a jail term for punching a 13 year old boy.

Mr Brooks jailed him for 24 weeks and also imposed a nine-month ban on him entering licensed premises or buying alcohol.
