MEA chairman says price hike was unavoidable

Government can’t keep pumping money into the Island’s utilities to stop people’s energy bills rising.

That’s the message from the Manx Electricity Authority which yesterday announced a 3 per cent price hike.

People will have to pay around £21 more each year for their electricity when the new tariffs are introduced on April 1^st.

It’s the first price rise in three years and the MEA says the decision was not one made lightly.
