Members inspect new Bemahague School site

    Bemahague School, Onchan

Senior members from the Department of Education have visited the new Bemahague School site in Onchan as work completion draws nearer.

The £34million project will replace Park Road as St Ninian’s Lower School from September.

It will house around 750 pupils in years seven, eight and nine, with room for further expansion in the years ahead.

Minister Peter Karran and department members Zac Hall and John Houghton were among the group shown round the new premises.

Parts of the building will be progressively released to the Department from April, which will allow the school to transfer resources from the existing Park Road and St Ninian’s sites.

The new footbridge linking the Governor’s Hill estate with the new school will also be open to the public shortly.
