MHK calls for government to look at latest Manx Gas increase

Manx Gas' price hike needs to be looked at by government.

That's the verdict of the vice-chairman of the Office of Fair trading who says a 2.9 per cent increase in all tariffs and target return of 10.6 per cent is not fair.

Chris Thomas says he'd be looking for a figure in 'single digits'.

Chief officer of the OFT Mike Ball last week said the calculations appear to 'make sense'.

However Mr Thomas says it doesn't and future changes should be monitored as figures are based on a 2008 report:
