A Douglas West MHK is asking the Chief Minister why government departments need more than one Tynwald Member.
Chris Thomas says there are other roles in parliament that need the expertise but aren’t always filled because they're unpaid positions.
Some Members work within three or four departments in total and claim around £11,000 from the parliamentary budget.
Mr Thomas says that if this were to change the move would provide better equality for Members:
