The show will air on BBC in 2012.
TV presenter and former conservative politician, Michael Portillo, was on the Island last week filming the third series of his popular travel documentary, Great British Railway Journeys.
The main subject of the programme will be about when the Victorians would travel to the Island in the summer months, and the impressive local infrastructure that was in place at the time.
They will also be speaking to local characters and taking a trip on the tram to the Snaefell summit.
A Department of Economic Development spokesperson said it’s the perfect programme to convey key messages about the Isle of Man and help it to gain maximum publicity.
