Minimum wage hike plan goes to Tynwald

Tynwald will consider increasing the Island's minimum wage at its sitting in February.

The Treasury and Department for Enterprise have proposed increasing the rate from £8.25 to £9.50 from April 1 2022.

The minimum wage for 16-17 year-olds would also increase from £6.15 to £6.80, with Development Workers getting £8.05 instead of £7.30.

The proposed change are in line with the aims of the government's Island Plan, to increase the minimum wage to meet the Isle of Man Living Wage within five years.
