A cash boost of nearly £50,000 has allowed the Children's Centre to press forward with an initiative to provide local children with a brighter future.
Thanks to a £47,000 grant from the Manx Lottery Trust, the organisation has been able to bring on dedicated outreach workers to forming part of the project.
The project offers children aged eight and under which are assisted by the Children's Centre a weekly opportunity to work with a play worker to help youngsters form friendships, develop resilience and problem-solving skills.
Head of The Children’s Centre, Joff Whitten, says: "We are very grateful for the support and encouragement from the Manx Lottery Trust for this project, which we believe will lay invaluable foundations for young people’s futures.
"There is also mounting evidence on our Island of school-aged children with mental health disorders. This scheme has two elements, specific to younger children and over eights, but both are exciting and challenging.
"Having consulted with families, young people, mental health professionals and schools, the message is consistent, support is needed for children at an earlier stage which is why this project is so important."
