More money needed for school improvements

The Minister for Education and Children will seek approval for the scheme’s budget to be increased to £2.5 million

Improvements to schools on the Island will be brought forward if Tynwald gives its permission this month.

The Minister for Education and Children will seek approval for the scheme’s budget to be increased to £2.5 million with the money coming from the capital expenditure budget.

A new library facility will be created at Ballakermeen, and a consolidated English facility at Ramsey Grammar School.

Under the Energy Initiatives Fund QE2 High School would get a new plant room and woodchip store, there’d also be an enlargement of the kitchen and dining room.

Aswell as making vital improvements to the listed schools the schemes would also generate work for contractors and suppliers during current difficult times.
