The Department of Education, Sport and Children says there are almost 200 children who aren't attending school on the Island.
A Freedom of Information request asked how many children were officially being home-schooled.
In its response, the department revealed 193 children were registered as home educated at the end of October.
Since 2009, parents have been required to register their youngsters as being educated at home.
