Nelson Street regeneration to get underway after Tynwald Day

First phase of regeneration to cost £250,000

After some minor delays the first phase of the Douglas regeneration is now anticipated to get underway in early July following Tynwald Day.

The first area to receive work will be Nelson Street; it will see new paving, new lighting and street furniture, giving the area a facelift.

Work would then progress onto Duke Street and Strand Street next year.

The first stage will cost £250,000 and be finished by September, the project in total will cost close to £5 million.

Community, Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney has branded the regeneration works long overdue.
