New Council of Ministers line-up revealed

Major shock as Peter Karran unveiled as Education and Children Minister

The new Council of Ministers line up has been revealed, and while some of the choices were anticipated the appointment of Liberal Vannin Leader Peter Karran as Minister of Education and Children is the biggest surprise.

As expected John Shimmin has been given Economic Development, with Eddie Teare taking over at the Treasury.

Relative newcomer Chris Robertshaw is now in charge of the Department of Social Care.

Tim Crookall and Juan Watterson have been handed their first ministerial roles, with the Peel MHK taking over at Community Culture and Leisure, and the Rushen representative helming Home Affairs.

Phil Gawne is Minister for Environment, Food and Agriculture; David Anderson retains his Health position with David Cretney now the Minister for Infrastructure.

Chief Minister Allan Bell has said his new line-up will blend experience and fresh thinking that will hopefully mesh well with the rest of Tynwald.
