A new drugs study being carried out by Liverpool John Moore's University could see a change in policy.
The Department of Home Affairs has asked for a review into how common cannabis use is, and how it could harm society.
It's thought the study will be finished by next September, with policy options available to Tynwald by January 2024.
Home Affairs Minister Jane Poole-Wilson says politicians need data and evidence to properly inform a debate on drugs policy.
