Volunteer crew have been training at the lifeboat station next door to Peel Castle with the new Shannon-class lifeboat.
The station says it can now use both the lifeboat and its specialised recovery area for crew training without RNLI supervision.
And it says if all goes according to plan, the Frank and Brenda Winter will enter active service by the end of October.
