Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Geoffrey Boot says it's not the government's job to market the meat plant it owns.
In the House of Keys this week North Douglas MHK David Ashford asked what work was being done to produce a marketing plan.
Mr Boot said although the Department of Infrastructure owns the site, it leases it to a private operator - the Fatstock Marketing Association.
