No plans to make HIV stats public, says Minister

Health Minister David Anderson confirmed in the House of Keys this week that there are only a very small number of people on island who are HIV positive.

Minister Anderson confirmed that the number is so small they do not publish specific figures as it could lead to identification of the individuals concerned.

He said his department take patient confidentiality extremely seriously, particularly when dealing with conditions like HIV that carry such a stigma.

Douglas South MHK Kate Beecroft had sought to find out what measures he was putting in place to make the Island’s figures publicly available.
