No school teachers get lump sums if they retire on medical grounds.
So says the Department of Education, Sport and culture after a Freedom of Information request.
The FOI asked how much was spent paying off teachers over the past five years for early or medical retirement.
The DESC says it doesn't hold that information - because although teachers can access their pensions because of retirement through illness, it doesn't pay out lump sums.
