Bids to install fibre telegraph poles across the Island have been rejected because of concerns over their appearance and effect on wildlife.
The Isle of Man's planning committee opposed seven out of eight applications for Manx Telecom to erect 29.5 ft poles.
The only one approved was for Andreas, with the company responding by saying it would carefully consider its options and that it was disappointed with the outcome.
There would have been 53 poles in total.
