Constituencies Need Resetting
The Positive Action Group are calling for a change to the Island’s existing voting system with specific emphasis on the constituencies.
The Political lobby group has flagged up what they call a fundamental inconsistency within the current electoral process.
It relates to the long established system which is based on geography, they say however this system means some areas will have only one candidate, whereas others could have upto three.
PAG believe that the ideal situation would be to cut down the number of constituencies to 8, having 3 members in each.
The group have submitted their suggestions to the Boundary Review Committee.
Any changes to the existing system wouldn’t be implemented until after this years general election.
