Health and Social Care Minister Kate Beecroft says elderly people want a say in who provides their meals.
Douglas North MHK David Ashford quizzed the minister on her meals on wheels policy, and how she'll make sure people can live in their own homes for longer.
In response, Mrs Beecroft said the Department wants to ensure people can stay in their own homes, avoiding hospital and residential care whenever possible.
She also revealed 160 people are already using alternative services, with a 10 per cent decline in the use of meals on wheels in the past year.
