Is the Island about to lose its elm tree tunnel at St Marks?
In a post on social media - Manx Wildlife Trust says it's 'heartbroken' as planning consent has been granted to fell the landmark.
It says despite it being a registered woodland, with trees over 100 years old, the proposal was approved back in May.
The Isle of Man is thought to have the largest remaining field elm population in Europe.
The decision has sparked fury from residents, with a petition gathering more than 7,000 signatures in under 24 hours.
