Proposed merger 'exciting' says Rushen chairman

The proposed merger between Arbory and Rushen Commissioners will be an 'exciting time' for parishioners.

That's according to Rushen chairman, Stan Pilling, after it was announced the two authorities agreed in principle to become one entity from April next year.

Meanwhile, chair of Arbory Commissioners, Stephen Gawne, says the individual identities of both parishes will be maintained, adding both boards feel they'll be in a stronger position as a combined unit.

The proposals will now be considered by Infrastructure Minister, Ray Harmer MHK, with hopes an order to bring the change into effect will go before Tynwald in December.
