    Public asked to help protect marine environment

    An appeal has gone out for local people to play their part in helping to protect the Island’s marine environment.

    The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is reminding people of their responsibility to look after the sea by taking a few simple steps. 

    Advice includes not flushing non-biodegradable items down the toilet, cleaning up dog mess from the beaches and not organising balloon or lantern releases as the associated ribbons, wires and string can entangle birds and sea creatures.
