The Department of Infrastructure says you should start preparing for freezing temperatures by helping yourself to salt from one of the 900 bins on-Island.
This week, the Met Office has issued warnings about icy patches on roads as temperatures dip overnight, and wintry showers are possible on Friday.
The DOI says it has a gritting plan for poor weather, but the public can help themselves and neighbours in freezing conditions using its stores of rock salt.
As well as the bins sited around the Island, you can pick up salt free of charge from the four Local Amenity Sites.
