Pupils victorious after being inspired by Manx veteran

Two pupils from Ramsey Grammar School have been highly commended at a nationwide competition championed by Manx D-Day veteran Hector Duff.

Emily Corkill and Nell Davies were awarded prizes for their entries in the Spirit of Normandy Young Historian Project.

Mr Duff asked the Year 9 pupils to enter the competition after visiting the northern school to talk to them about his experiences in World War Two.

Both girls received their certificates from him at their school prize giving this week.
