Queues once again at pre-Christmas booster clinic

Scores of people have once again lined the streets for a pre-Christmas booster vaccination.

It's the second walk-in clinic - following the first on Saturday which saw hundreds of people queuing for their booster.

The latest guidelines mean anyone over the age of 40 can get their vaccine booster at the walk-in clinic at the Chester Street hub, after the government set a new booster target in response to the Omicron variant.

The daily target has been increased from 1,000 people to 1,700 people a day.

Government is reiterating however, booked appointments will take priority.

Walk-in clinic details:

-They are being held at the Chester Street hub in Douglas.

-They are open to anyone aged 40 and over and those who are medically vulnerable regardless of whether they already have an appointment.

-The extra slots are in addition to existing appointments.

-There is no need to cancel a booked appointment, those who wish to retain their pre-booked appointments can do so.

-While plenty of vaccine will be available each day, booked appointments will take priority.

- Jabs will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

-It is possible, depending on demand, that some people will be asked to return the following day if the session they attend reaches full capacity.
