Remand for man accused of armed robbery

A Willaston man accused of carrying out an armed robbery at a SPAR store has been remanded at the Isle of Man Prison.

26-year-old Steven Johnston appeared at Douglas Courthouse this morning - it's alleged he carried out the raid at his local shop on January 16th.

At around 9.30pm that night a masked man "brandishing" a knife forced a female shop assistant to hand over £500 in cash before fleeing.

Johnston's girlfriend - 23-year-old Jessie Clare - also appeared in court charged with perverting the course of justice.

No pleas were entered - the case has been adjourned until March 15th when committal proceedings are due to take place.
