Steam Railway gives us 'Island at War'

Threshing with steam at Larkhill Farm, Abbeylands, Onchan in 1917: A Clayton Shuttleworth threshing engine

An Island at War event will plunge us into the 1940s this weekend.

Events will take place on the Steam Railway to bring the spirit of the wartime era to life.

Douglas Station will become a military outpost both today and tomorrow, Castletown will become a wartime scout camp, and Port Erin shopkeepers will be dressed in period clothing.

There'll be ration books, games for children and sales of WI jams. People will also have the opportunity to see the Fabulous D-Day Darlings on Sunday.

For full details pick up an Island at War leaflet from any of the main stations or go online at iombusandrail.info.
