Steve Rodan chosen to serve as Speaker of the House of Keys for second term

Next Tuesday’s sitting of Tynwald will see the election of the next Chief Minister.

Yesterday saw the swearing in of the 24 MHK’s successful in last Thursday’s general election.

Following the ceremony in the Council of Minister’s chamber the process of selecting the new speaker of the house got underway.

The role will once again go to Garff MHK Steve Rodan who secured his seat last week with 92% of the vote.

He was proposed by Rushen MHK Phil Gawne and seconded by North Douglas MHK John Houghton.

Next Tuesday’s sitting of Tynwald will see the election of the next Chief Minister.

Ramsey MHK Alan Bell and Onchan MHK Peter Karran are the two vying for the top spot.
