Local students raising funds for 'Hospice Africa'

Four local students are aiming to raise funds for a charity overseas.

Isobel Morris, Issy Hearnden, Jess Pirrie and Johanna Ivanova- all year 12 pupils at Castle Rushen High School are taking part in an 'enrichment programme' - charity challenge.

It allows people to raise awareness of a charity of choice - and they have picked 'Hospice Africa'.

The group says they picked that charity as it was one of the newer involved in the scheme, and thought it would be a 'great way to give back'.

The charity was first founded by Dr Anne Merriman - who had worked across the world helping in geriatic and palliative care.

After this, she decided to set up the charity  - her goal was to provide palliative care to those in Africa who couldn't afford it.

To raise awareness, CRHS sixth form is wearing green today and Douglas Commissioners will turn numerous landmarks around the capital green to raise awareness.

People can donate here.
