Teare confident of Tynwald backing for Pinewood investment

Harry Potter is one of Pinewood Studios' most successful ever film franchises

It was announced earlier in the week how the government will be looking to become a major shareholder in the hugely successful and renound Pinewood Studios.

Since 1995 the Isle of Man has invested more than £170million in 97 productions spanning cinema and television.

For a £24m investment the Island would have a stake just shy of 20 per cent in the company, in return Pinewood would be responsible for sourcing and advising on future opportunities for the Island.

Speaking to Treasury Minister Eddie Teare he said he is hopefully the initiative will get the full backing of Tynwald (see audio).
