Technical issues with flight to Bristol causes 6-hour delay

An easyJet flight from the Island to Bristol is now estimated to depart six hours after it was meant to following technical difficulties.

Isle of Man Airport confirmed that the aircraft for flight EZY234 that was due to leave  at 16:30 was experiencing difficulties during a routine check-up.

In a statement sent to 3FM, an airport representative said:  ‘The fire crew simply came on standby to assist with their equipment in measuring the engine heat.

‘This happened nowhere near the runway. At no point was any other flight impacted in any way.  This was purely a technical issue with that aircraft and there was no danger to anyone.

‘The engine run highlighted an issue and so easyJet are working out how to repair.’

easyJet are expected to bring another aircraft in for the Bristol departure, but passengers are currently being told to keep checking updates from easyJet.

On the easyJet website, it says the flight is due to depart at 22:16 (as of last check 20:30)
