Topshop wanting to build new Strand Street store

Clothing chain Topshop wants to build a new store in Strand Street in Douglas.

An agent on behalf of the Arcadia Group has submitted a planning application to demolish the Leisure Amusement Arcade, which currently operates on the site.

Images included with the application show a modern glass-fronted shop with two interior levels.

The Island's current branch of Top Shop is on the corner of Duke Street and Lord Street.

It's not the first time the company has been linked with a possible move to Strand Street where most of its immediate competitors are.
