Tynwald ok funding for Queen's Pier stabilising and protection works

The scheme will cost £1.76 million with the possibility of a major refurbishment in the future when more money is readily available.

Tynwald yesterday gave the go ahead to the spending for the stabilising and protection works on the Queen’s Pier in Ramsey.

It was a close call for the pier, with 11-10 voting in favour; the MLCs voted 7-1 in favour.

The works will see minor repairs carried out to ensure the short-term future of the historical site.

The scheme will cost £1.76 million with the possibility of a major refurbishment in the future when more money is readily available.

It’s estimated this would cost many millions.

Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne said however that this development isn’t necessarily a guarantee that more works would follow.
