It will be a significant day for the Queen, as she’ll be celebrating her 85th Birthday.
There is now just under a month until forty Manx residents will receive Maundy money from the Queen at a ceremony at Westminster Abbey, to be broadcast on television.
The locals have been picked based on services to the community and the church; it’s also a stipulation that they’re aged over 70.
It will be a significant day for the Queen, as she’ll be celebrating her 85th Birthday.
Normally the television cameras wouldn’t be there but it was judged to be worthy of broadcasting given the Queen’s own significant celebrations.
It’s a service dating back to the Middle Ages, Queen Elizabeth II is the only monarch for hundreds of years who has ensured she has been present at each service, every year of her reign.
To mark the Queen’s birthday there will be 85 recipients in total, the rest coming from the Diocese of Europe, based in Gibraltar.
