Union members to be balloted on potential strike action

Members of a local trade union will be balloted on the possibility of taking industrial action.

It comes as Prospect members working in Public Services overwhelmingly rejected a pay offer of 5%.

A consultative ballot will now take place, to seek an indication of what type of action members would be prepared to do in future.

Negotiations Officer Nick Hewer says 'we can't continue to accept pay awards that, after the effects of inflation, are meaningless and result in real terms pay being eroded.'
