Have you spotted any dolphins around the Island's coastline?
Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch are appealing to anyone who may have caught sightings of an 'unusual species' of dolphin swimming in the South recently.
Posting to social media, the charity said they are particularly interested in receiving any photos or videos from Sunday 14 August at 9:15am between Fort Island and the runway extension of the pod.
MWDW said they 'strongly believe this to be an unusual species to Manx waters,' but are requesting more footage before they determine the type of dolphin that they could be.
To submit footage, email info@mwdw.net.
EDIT- these have now been confirmed as white-beaked dolphins (see post on 28th August to read more). *Unusual sighting alert!* We are looking for anyone who may have further footage or video of this highly active group of animals seen on Sunday 14th August at 09:15 between Fort Island and the runway extension. We strongly believe this to be an unusual species to Manx waters and so we are wondering if anyone saw the same pod on that day at around that time/location and if so, do you have any footage? Please get in touch by email if you can help (info@mwdw.net) as we don't always see FB messages. This video was taken by Patrick and Anne Hamilton and we thank them very much for sending it in. We have our own strong idea of what they are but want to see if any more media comes to light before putting it out there.
